Burn One With Nestor Miranda

Cigar Lovers, I'm back! After being away in training for my network certification, what better way to jump back in than with another smokey event hosted at uptown Charlotte's premier cigar lounge Cutters. Presented by Craig Cass of The Tinder Box, Charlotte welcomes Nestor Miranda, founder of Miami Cigars and Company. Mr Miranda was here to present us with his "Special Selection" 20 Anniversary and the Art Deco.(reviews coming soon) We had a great turn out, near standing room only. Special thanks to the Cutters staff, Sam, Alicia and Katie for once again providing TOP SHELF service. Love you guys. A special thanks goes out to Craig Cass who was also responsible for the La Gloria Cubana event, for putting together another great night. I look forward to having a stick with you soon. Once again...

Arturo Fuente Comes to Charlie's

Charlie's hosts Arturo Fuente in
La Flor Dominicana Mystirio Legero
the lounge and gives away a 46'' plasma as 1st prize in a drawing. Members and guest gathered to sample some of the best Fuente has to offer as well as a few other premium sticks. Sticks like the Grand Habano Corojo, a 66 gauge monster of a stick that was the talk of the evening. Also available was the La Flor Dominicana Mysterio. One the most beautifully rolled cigars I've ever seen. (I snatched the last two and sent my cousin one of them) The lovely Lynette was on hand and serving her delicious Cafe Cubana coffee. Charlie's wouldn't be Charlie's without everyone's favorite host, Bernie. Thanks for everything.  Good friends, good drink, good smoke.

The Game Is Set!!!

Cigar Lovers. Good conference action today. The Packers kicked Chi-town in the teeth, at home and The Steelers  laid the smack down on The Jets. (who I think "choked") Meanwhile, enjoyed the day, the games while pulling on a Monticristo Media Noche provided by my man Rich who I met for the first time today. He and his lovely wife who made this excellent dip, dropped by to watch the game, eat and be merry. The Noche was a good medium bodied smoke that started off rather mild and easy but hyped up its intensity just beyond half way and towards the end. The drag on the Noche was very tight with a punch. Found it difficult get a full dose of flavor so I cut it, allowing the full flavor to pull through. The Noche was a fast stick, about 25 min. Just long enough to grill some sliders. Unfortunately, I was not able to pair this with anything today. Maybe next time. Once again, another Good day, Good eats, Good friends, Good smoke.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

My fellow Cigar Lovers. It's been a month since my last post. Let me start off by saying Happy New Year to all and I hope that this year brings you all success and happiness. This year, I have big plans for Queen City Sticks. For starters, I will be posting a great deal more frequently with news, about the cigar life,  information about new sticks as well as our favorites. I plan to introduce a tab called Life Styles that will provide information on pairings with spirits, foods and gadgets. I will also be attending more events, featuring some who's who and with the help of Twitter and Facebook, become more social and extend our membership to cigar lovers in and outside of the Queen City. Too 2011, Good smoke, good times.

Also in the spot were Zach (nice to meet you man), Vinnie (as in my cousin), Poker champ Pat (sorry you missed the pizza) and the man himself... Bernie who never disappoints. Its always good to you. HAPPY 235th USMC

On this day 235 years ago at Tun Tavern Philadelphia, PA. The United States Marine Corps was born. Since that historic day, millions of men and women have faithfully served this country and defended others "IN EVERY CLIME AND PLACE." On this day, lets honor those Jar heads, Leather Necks and Devil Dogs who have served, lived and died fighting to protect America and her alias. If you see a Marine today, say thank you and wish them a happy birthday. OOH RAH!!!
