This week on The Cutter

Nov 11, 2011 Happy Birthday USMC.
Padron 7000
I don't know about you but I can tell you that I not expecting this stick to be as good as it was. (not to self. don't listen to other critics) This stick has made me a huge fan of Padron. I gave a friend a Padron from Cuba some time back.(at least I was told it was from Cuba by a trusted source) only a 1/4" in and he says "my lips are tingling". Well my lips weren't tingling on this but for a moment, this bumped my number one to second place. With a straight on cut, the draw was smooth with little to no resistance. This nicely rolled stick burned evenly til finish. I did expect more of a full bodied smoke. What I got was just what I needed at that time.  After the smoke cleared, The Padron 7000 is in a tie for 3rd place on my favorites list. My new mission, smoke the entire line of Padron Series.

Semper Fi.

The Padilla Series 68 'Black Bear'
Kicking in the door of my top 10 is The  Padilla Black Bear. This 60x6.5 is a medium to full, very flavorful, smooth draw and evenly burning was a big surprise after a disappointing Padilla that will go unnamed. This fat boy gave me an earthy taste that was not over powering with a hint of a nutty flavor. The taste changed slightly paired with my Blantons who's flavor is has a touch of orange and oak. I highly recommend this on a Sunday afternoon while watching football and after wings and ribs. Good with Burbon(Makers 46, Blantons) or Hennessy Privilege.
